I guess baby showers can be a little twee and maybe even a bit trying. I remember in particular one friend's wary expression as twenty or so women cut streamers to a length they fancied would reach around her girth, and her horror when everyone overestimated. At another shower we were blindfolded, and nappies filled with various brown foods/liquids were passed around. We had to guess what they were by smell. Well that was quite funny actually. Somewhere on the internets I saw pictures of a hipster baby shower to which females
and males had been invited, and they competed to chug beer from baby-bottles. I wanted to do that! But our pregnant friend Bec was a complete baby shower h8r, just was not having one. She had a better idea.
We went to
Amitie and all helped make a baby quilt!
Our teacher
Louise helped us complete the top in one afternoon. Bec took it home and quilted the layers together over a couple of weeks. Then last Sunday everyone came to my place and we did the edge binding.
Finally finished! Now the baby has to hurry up and arrive. Any day now, yay! Then we'll fill up some baby bottles with Carlton Draught and celebrate by sucking it down through rubber teats!

What a lovely quilt! Lucky baby.
That's such an awesome idea!
We had a couples baby shower for some friends last winter. It was wilder than any college party I ever went to ;)
This quilt is so lovely! I've been thinking of doing something similar (but for myself!) with my extra sewing scraps. Love it!
